| A book with integrity and wisdom Inner Productivity: a Mindful Path to Efficiency and Enjoyment in Your Work...by Christopher Edgar
Of [...]
Chris Edgar is a life coach and former lawyer. He writes good posts on his blog and he writes great comments on others blogs
My goal is to inspire people to be the best they can be in living this life. One of my sub-goals is to read all the books written by the career and life coaches who make comments on Blogging Without a Blog this is a good community base to work from, and the commenters are full of integrity and truths. This is where I met Chris Edgar the blogger.
This book was also suggested for my reading by several other bloggers.
I do not enter a relationship with a "self help" style book without picking a topic within myself that I wish to work on and in this case I picked my bubbling up and over anger at the Federal Reserve and the Greedy folks who have messed with the economy and my personal financial plans and goals. The anger is spilling out as a hot button for me.
My first delight with the book was that it was available on my KINDLE II. This is a high priority for me and I do not have to dust this book on a book shelf, worry about trees, or give it away. I can reference it at any time and check on my notes and highlights forever - and did I mention I do not have to dust this book ever?
I began reading this book on the train - it was easy to read and had a generous and calming flow. I had heard that it was not about rearranging your desk or making neat and tidy color coded charts and graphs, and I found this to be true. I liked this book more and more. I do so much data entry now and when it comes to money and anger, I did not want to color code anything on that front -I was already red hot!
The outline/format of the book was delightful. I never felt slammed or dunked or pushed; rather there was a flow of idea, anecdote, adaptive thinking, illustration of point and an exercise to keep you on the pathway to your own story and keep one focused on their own needs.
The quotes to begin sections and within the book added to one's thinking and self-assessment and were truly relevant to the progress. This is no easy feat.
I added numerous authors and books to my reading list because the placement of the references intrigued me to want to know more....and it would be okay not to pursue them, because they were true to the next exercise or concept being discussed. They were never just dropped in to be impressive or meet some kind of quota.
The big finish was quite a surprise and the most metaphysical exercise of the book really did open up the why of my anger and release the venom. It is only the beginning of resolution for me.
I highly recommend this book for the distracted, the folks who dislike their work or work environment, for those with writer's block and for those who need clarity in their actions. I liked that Chris' book did what it set out to do and that I could successfully use it to find resolution.

| Necessary Reading! This book is a must for those suffering from depression, anxiety, over intoxication (of any sort)and a general disconnection from life, city or country life, or just life... For me this book is truly a revelation. Having read many of the Bihar School of Yoga's works before this, I felt I was taking a big chance on purchasing this book, thinking that I might already have enough of the information on the art of meditaiton. But alas, I was proved wrong, Happily... When the Bihar School of Yoga mentions one of their works in other books, I get a need to know what they mean, fully. Every one of their books take the reader on a journey of knowledge sharing with us the full practices, the full meaning, etc. of everyone of thier subjects. They begin with the new found scientific proof and research, scientific text on how each of our body systems react to whatever the practice may be ie: Surya Namaskara; Pranayama; Asana and all else. This book on meditations is no different. Satyananda dispels the myths of meditating and gives reasons why we should take up the practice of meditation. These are endless.
To become a fully rounded being meditation should be a daily part of out lives. For a good nights sleep, to start the day of right, to rest and reboot in the middle of a long day, meditation helps. There are many Yogic practices presented here from many of the belief systems of the world including everyone from around the world. No one should be without a moment to regroup themselves. This text helps you find the time and space to do so. I highly recommend this book. Read more...
