| A bit goofyHonestly, this was a lot of alternative medicine, midwifery, and herbal healing. If you're an expert, this book made ense. If you're a novice or just looking for an alternative to regular medicine, it's going to be a bit too much. I didn't find it helpful and ended up giving it away. I felt like I had to be an expert to use it.

Have you ever wanted to start doing yoga? Are you a teenager that can't find a class that is serious enough to get through an exercise without laughing? Or, you can't find a class for your own age group? Whether you want to do yoga for spiritual reasons, or to get healthy, or to be less stressed, "Yoga Exercises for Teens" is a great starter book. Though it's written for teaching a class, anyone can use this book. It has helpful icons marking whether the exercise is for advanced students or if the exercise is supposed to be done in pairs. It also includes the eight yoga rules for life, the five precepts, and the five yoga abstinences.
I personally think that the exercises marked for advanced students weren't that hard and that some of the unmarked exercises were kind of hard. But it is true that after a while I wasn't as stressed out as usual and that I was more flexible than before. "Yoga Exercises for Teens" by Helen Purperhart is recommended for teachers starting to teach a yoga class and for teenagers wanting to try out yoga without really making a commitment.

Good description of techniques - but be warnedPeople can I please advise you to make sure you are first very well established in the first 2 levels of Yoga before you embark on any Pranayama (breath-control). First be steeped in Yama(abstinences - alcohol, drugs, sex, meat, etc) and Niyama(observances - love, kindness, non-harm, patience, etc) before moving on to asans(postures) and especially pranayama. Every swami will tell you that if you are not living a committed Spiritual life in every respect, then practicing the 4th level of Yoga - breathing exercises, especially the advanced ones, can potentially be harmful. You should really only practice techniques like this within the framework of a spiritual society and Guru-disciple relationship. Breathing techniques force prana up the subtle spine, thus awakening higher and higher chakra's. This process should occur naturally and gradually as part of a disciplined spiritual life - it should not be forced.

| Low-Tech-Friendly and Better than Books!My local studio would rather I "cheat" on them by going to another studio (that way, at least they know I have the extra money lying around to take more and more and more of their classes...)
Well, NOTHING DOING!!
The My Yoga 2 Go practice deck (the deck alone sells for $19.95) is what started to enable me to go only on an as-needed basis to my swank yoga studio (and still advance in my practice--despite my being not so young and even being fairly laid back in temperament--we're talking vinyasa practices here, not the sleepy stuff).
Perhaps it's my learning style, but these cards actually SPOKE TO ME on:
* How long to hold the poses
* Modifications
* Form
* Sequencing suggestions
Did I say how long to hold the poses? Do you realize most books don't go over that, thinking you'll get the CD, DVD, streamings, workshop or even classes from the master instructor who authored the book?
Well, guess what? This deck was authored by a yoga STUDENT, Beth Siegel, not a teacher with an agenda.
Namasté ... and aren't we all for sharing the wealth?

I can now read signs and see more details than I could beforeThis kit is the best distillation of the Bates Method and Natural Vision Improvement. I have read almost every book written on the subject and I have experienced the most dramatic improvements with Meir's method. I can read signs and notice details that I never could before, and I have a much better sense of when my eyes are relaxed versus when they are stressed. The booklet itself is worth the cost of this kit, but the real benefit of the kit is Meir's spoken coaching on the 2 CDs. Every sentence he writes and speaks is full of new insights into healthy vision habits and vision correction techniques. I learn more and more with repeated exposure to his work. He knows what he is talking about: he grew up blind and now has an unrestricted driver's license, for heaven's sake! Also he has spent the last 25+ years helping other people with their vision and health problems, so he has seen many, many variations of vision problems. This is well worth the sub-$18 Amazon price. I also recommend his "Yoga for Your Eyes" video. It's a little older and has low production value, but is nice to watch him teach the methods. One word of advice... since vision is so affected by your mental state you must be a willing and active participant, so if you go into it cynically or do not read through the entire booklet you will not enjoy the vision improvements that I or the other successful vision-improvers have.
