| Realistic and Romantic I disagree with those who don't like the use of real-life couples in this series. It was nice for me to see less than perfection. Not sure I'd like to sit with my partner watching a playboy bunny type and hunky stud - could be intimidating! While I don't think these DVDs will teach you how to "hang from the rafters," the tone is encouraging and watching them is a good way to open communication and add some spice to your love life.
Outdated and out of touch - look elsewhereIf you're looking for something that's informative stay clear of the classic better sex videos. The videos were made in the early 90's although they look like they were made more around the 80's. The information given was very minimal. You could probably put all the informative content of the whole series into about 15 minutes. I was very disappointed and thought it was a waste of time and money. But if you're interested in old 80's /90's type of semi-soft core porn under the thin guise of being informative then this is for you. I would be suprised if these so called "doctors" were real, because they seem to have as much knowledge of the subject matter as your neighbors teenage kid. Try to find something that is bit more current and more informative -- you could probably even learn more from a real porn movie than this series but I'm sure there are a lot of other, better instructional videos out there.
ugly and oldThe sinclair institute may have a reputation for quality products but the better sex series is a big let down. What the other reviews fail to tell you is that these videos were originally produced in 1990. IT was an exeriment to use "actual couples for loving sex". It was a neat idea at the time but this is what you get. Ugly models having sex. My wife and I had to turn this off the first time. The models are just ugly and old. It seams as if the majority of models are over 4 and not good looking at all. Kinda like a swing fest for loosers.
If you are going to look for help on sex, look at Anne Hoopers guides or the old Kama Sutra series. They were much better than this.
Stimulating conversation and adventureThis is a great beginner video for those new to sex videos. You don't have to be an amateur to appreciate the tips and invitation to explore beyond your comfort zone. My husband and I watched it together and found it stimulating (in more ways than one). It was nice that couples like us were used as examples so it seemed more realistic and unintimidating. We have a new comfort level with talking about our preferences - I highly recommend this as a tool to improve your sex life!
honest look at sex and communicationI really appreciated the honest, straightforward approach of this series. It taught me that communication is the cornerstone to any good (or great!) relationship, then great sex follows. Some of the techniques are basic, but overall it is a very educational series that is very beneficial especially when both people in a relationship watch it together with an open mind. I'd definitely recommend it to any couple in any stage of a relationship.
