| Good for beginners maybeI practice yoga with a local studio twice a week. I bought this video because it sounded like something interesting I could do at home. I was very disappointed.
First of all, don't count on losing weight with this routine. The pace is very slooooow. There is a lot of emphasis on breathing, which is good. But I just could not breathe as slow as the women in this DVD. I wondered sometimes if they were playing it on slow-mo.
They also go through all the movements very slowly, which is good for those who do not routinely practice yoga, but sometimes I found myself hanging down in my forward fold while the women were still raising their arms (slowly) and bending over. I just can't move that slow!
The routine did not get my heart rate up the slightest bit - it did not even include sun salutations, which are a staple of yoga and can also get your heart rate up when done in a quick sequence! The routine might help you build strength as there are alot of variations of warrior pose and triangle that you hold for several breaths, but I just could not handle the slow pace.
For myself I found it more of a breathing and stretching workout than yoga for weight loss. Which is fine, if that's what you're looking for. I was just hoping for something with a bit more "power".

| Good workout / no breaks!I've tried so many exercise tapes, including yoga tapes, over the years and this is actually one of the better, less-obnoxious ones. It's a fairly tough workout but is very well-explained throughout, has no goofy music, narration or ugly sets getting in the way. The biggest problem with this - and it was a big one for me - is that the tape goes logically from a less to more strenuous workout but, at 70 minutes total, there is no clear way to break the workout up. Other tapes will maybe put 3 20-minute workouts on one, so that you can do one, two or all three workouts and customize it for yourself. Not the case with this one, and that's a pain. What it means is, if you don't have over an hour to workout, you will have to just stop the tape, interrupting any sort of flow and progression. Frustrating!

| Guys Like it, Too!I like this tape! My husband and I are seniors who try to keep in excellent shape. The first time we did this routine together, he said it was more for women but after the second time, he realized there's a lot more to it than first meets the eye and said he'd gotten an excellent work-out.
It's true that Denise Austin tapes can be tricky to follow at first - her pace zooms! - but by the 3rd or 4th viewing, our muscle memory takes over and that's no problem. By then, I'm really feeling, "You're STRONG!" as she encourages us to hold that difficult pose a minute longer. I like her energy.
I gave this one 4 stars instead of 5 because while we do alternate it with tapes from many others, it's not my favorite Denise Austin routine. I reserve 5 stars for, "Pilates for Every Body," which is packed with so much variety that it's super fun + makes us feel as Denise says, "You've done something good for your body!"
That said, "Power Yoga Plus" is good, too. Just don't give up on it too soon: Before long, you'll be following right along, happy with a pace fast enough to break a good sweat!
